The CAR ASYST ADAPTER is the diagnostic vehicle interface hardware that connects your smartphone with the vehicle systems.
The CAR ASYST ADAPTER has to be plugged into the OBD socket of the vehicle. It connects the vehicle systems via Ethernet using the DoIP protocol.
Your Smartphone connects to the CAR ASYST ADAPTER via Wireless LAN. The vehicle interface forwards the communication from the vehicle to the CAR ASYST APP and vice versa.
To connect the CAR ASYST APP to the CAR ASYST ADAPTER follow the steps below:
1. Download the CAR ASYST APP from Google Play and install it on your Android mobile phone.
2. Connect the CAR ASYST ADAPTER to the vehicle OBD connector.
3. Start the CAR ASYST APP on your mobile device.
4. Select Settings on the main page.

The entry Select Channel allows changing the WLAN channel. The CAR ASYST ADAPTER acts as an Access-Point in a wireless network ( Infrastructure mode) and determines the WLAN channel used for the wireless communication. It is recommended keeping the WLAN channel set to auto. In this case the Adapter automatically selects a channel that offers best performance.
The entry Set Password allows changing the WLAN password for the WPA2 encrypted wireless connection. The WLAN password has to consist of at least 8 and up to 63 printable ASCII characters or of 64 hexadecimal digits.
Press Write Configuration to save the changes to the CAR ASYST Adapter and your mobile device. The connection is then re-established using the new settings.
To disconnect from the CAR ASYST ADAPTER you can remove the adapter from power supply. As the WLAN connection is lost, you mobile device will reconnect to any other WLAN you have had configured before.
You also may disconnect from the CAR ASYST APP directly: 1. Start the CAR ASYST APP on your mobile device. 2. On the start page select Settings. 3. On the Settings page select Interfaces. 4. On the Select Interface page select WiFi Settings. 5. Tap long on the Network you want to connect next in the list of WLAN networks. A context menu will pop up. Choose the item Connect to network. 6. Your mobile device will now disconnect the adapter in order to connect to the selected network.
